The Power Of Phytochemicals
Phytochemicals are plant chemicals that have protective or disease prevention properties. Plants produce these chemicals to protect itself but research has shown that they can protect humans against diseases as well. Phytochemicals have been helpful in reducing the risk of certain cancers and degenerative diseases. According to Natural News, research is rapidly identifying the compounds from plants that are most effective against cancer. Some of my favorite plant foods are: broccoli and cabbage, kale, cauliflower, radish, collard greens, Chinese cabbage, Brussel sprouts, kohlrabi, bok choy, turnip greens, rutabaga, arugula, water cress, rapeseeds and mustard seeds, cucumbers, red peppers an green peppers, tomatoes and many others. The body needs vitamins and minerals especially from Greens. Greens offer enzymes and are excellent antioxidants to protect the body from free radicals that damage the cells and weaken the immune system. Every day the body produces free radicals simply by using up energy and also keeps free radicals in check by producing different types of antioxidants. Unfortunately diet, physical stress and various environmental elements, such as air pollution, smoking, drinking alcohol, charcoal-cooked food, processed and fried foods, harmful chemicals in beauty and body products impact the body. As we age more free radicals are accumulated and less antioxidants are produced.
The key here is to add color and variety. I like to make it fun and exciting to prepare vegetables, I even have a vegetable bible! You can prepare beautiful exotic dishes for your loved ones that will give them energy and healing at the same time. Some of my favorite spices are tumeric, cayenne, lemon grass and garlic, all of which can add benefits to your health and spice up your meal that heals. Recent studies show that carrots are high in beta carotene , a substance that has a positive effect on the liver and bile flow. Carrots also has been shown to have an anti tumor effect. I often use my juicer to make fresh carrot juice from organic carrots. I add some cucumbers and celery and I have made me a "cocktail of life". I like the power of choice that I have to fight disease with the foods that I choose to eat. You have that same power. God has placed good herbs and vegetables on this earth and it is truly for the healing of all who would enjoy it. Phytochemicals are powerful but their power can only be experience when you make the choice to make them a regular part of your diet. Fateria

| | Associated Problems With Colon Toxicity (Article by Association and Register Of Colon Hydrotherapist) A clean, strong and well functioning colon is essential to maintaining optimal health . . .
While an unclean, weak and poorly functioning colon, is a breeding ground for disease, sickness and death. Serious health problems can arise if the colon is not properly cared for, and based on the statistics, colon health care in the UK has been woefully neglected.
In the United Kingdom alone, many million's of pounds is spent annually on laxatives. This year an estimated 20,000 new cases of colon and rectal cancer will be diagnosed.
Colon cancer is believed to be the second leading cancer killer in the United Kingdom, second only to lung cancer in men, and breast cancer in women.
Good colon health is as much a function of the quality of food we eat, as it is our elimination status. The typical British diet comprised of refined, processed foods . . . high in saturated fats, sugar, flour, preservatives and low in fibre, inevitably causes problems for the colon. Over time, the colon will lose the ability to process vital nutrients, absorb water and to eliminate faecal matter from the body. . . a condition commonly known as 'constipation'.
Constipation is commonly identified as a condition where the faecal matter is so tightly packed together, that bowel movements are infrequent, with difficulty and much straining.
But many people are constipated without even recognising the condition!
Old hardened faeces stick to the walls of the colon. The passage through which the faeces are forced to travel is much reduced, so that stools are narrow in diameter. In our society, bowel movements of the chronically constipated . . . may be looked upon as being 'normal' stools!
Most people have no any idea how much old, hardened, faecal matter is lodged within their colons. Many experts believe that the average person has 5 to 20 pounds of accumulated waste matter in their colon. While not a weight loss procedure . . . it is interesting to note that many people who complete a series of colon hydrotherapy sessions, often report significant weight losses.
Colon toxicity can be the underlying cause of many of these commonly reported health problems and may indicate the need for colon cleansing . . . - Constipation

Banish a Negative Mood You wake up to the sound of an annoying alarm, you’re dead tired, and you just plain feel out of sorts. Ugh! How do you go out into the world—or even get out of bed!—when you are feeling so blah? April Durrett, IDEA contributing editor, and health, fitness and lifestyle writer shares mindful strategies that can help you shake off the blues. What can you do if you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Try these strategies. Use Body Scanning. “When you wake up, get in the habit of scanning your body,” advocates Linda Moseley of the Coaching Gym in Hurley, England, and Torino, Italy. “See if there is tension in your body. [Feeling out of sorts is] negative energy held in the body. Recognize tension as negative energy, and start to know exactly the intensity of this by scoring it on a scale of 1–10 (with 1 being very low negative energy and 10 being major reactive negative energy). Then, do the following: remember a time when you were at your best (on a positive energy scale of 1–10, choose a time when you would give a high score of at least an 8), and visualize it, [making] the pictures intense in color and the feeling warm and peaceful. Notice your breathing, and start to inhale on six counts and exhale on six. Do this for the time that it takes you to get out of the bathroom and dressed. Smile and look up with your eyes to the ceiling, and keep them there with the smile for at least 30 seconds.” Meditate. Mary E. Miriani, an ACSM health/fitness instructor at Reality Fitness Inc. in Naperville, Illinois, utilizes meditation to shift her mood. “I draw my attention to my breath, taking in positive energy with each inhalation and releasing negative energy with each exhalation,” she says. “Sometimes, doing this for 5 minutes is all it takes. If not, I picture a drawer, a closet and a window in my mind. I imagine putting small issues in the drawer, larger issues in the closet and things that are out of my control out the window, closing each in turn as I leave my problems to be dealt with either at a more appropriate time or by my higher power (those things I have no control over). I envision light pouring into the top of my head and down through my body, filling me with light that I will radiate out to the people I meet that day.” If you ignore your daily nutrition needs, you may find yourself in a bad mood more often than you want. “On my wrong-side-of-the-bed days, I am particularly careful about my food selection,” says Pat Massey Welter, a personal trainer who owns Suncoast Pilates & Personal Training Center in Palm Harbor, Florida. “I need the time every morning to sit down in the café near my studio, have a cup of tea or coffee, eat a balanced breakfast of carbohydrate, protein and some fat, read the newspaper and reflect on the upcoming day. If I miss this routine, I have a hard time getting into the proper mood.” | |
